This guy was a loser his whole life
But he liked super hero comics a lot
So he invented his own super hero costume
But he couldn't get it off
It was stuck
So he continued to grow old and live life in the costume.
My Plan
1: Picture of me and blaine holding map
2: Picture of me and blaine driving
3. Picture of blaine laying on ground by car and me scared and panicked
4. Picture of me burying blaine
5. Picture of me driving away

I was successful at portraying a story with my photos because you can clearly tell what is going on in the photos. The photos contain a plot with a beginning middle and end. The photos also contain a climax where something happens that throws the story off guard just like in any good story. The sole purpose of this unit was to teach that you can have meaning behind photography and you can tell a story without using words. I think this is clever that artists do this to communicate their message. A lot of times messages cannot be put into words and need to be explained in other ways. I liked this unit and thought it was useful in learning about trying to communicate something to an audience. I think it could be beneficial in the future in multiple fields of study.

Artist Statement:
This Photo is supposed to represent the jock group. They like to wear letter jackets to show off their achievements. Also, They think they are better than others so they look down on others and in this picture, i too am looking down. Jocks are people that like to show themselves off and be the center of attention. In this picture i am the largest part of the picture which focuses all the attention on me. This is a key way to represent the jock subculture. The angles are important for any photo and showing what you are trying to get across. Especially in a self portrait because it shows what the character is thinking or feeling.

My photo is of Blaine with sitting in his spot in the math lab doing nothing with an ironic caption,"hard at work". This photo is similar to Barbara Kruger's style of art. Her art always had captions on them that would lots of times contradict of over emphasize something to the point of sarcasm. This was a form of humor that she used very often. I recreated one of her pieces for this unit to show my knowledge of humor and how it is used in photography. I said he is hard at work but in reality he is not hard at work he is just little happy innocent Blaine being Blaine. Blaine does not understand why this is funny but thats because he is blind to the fact that he is not hard at work. He is like a blind little old man with no seeing eye dog.

My artwork is a modern context of a famous piece by Michaelangelo. My photo is different because I put people from today on there so they are wearing modern clothing. Also, my piece is digitally made where the other one was painted. Digitally making something is more popular today. Painting was more popular then but I think that is because they didn't have digital artwork then. Another difference is that in the original jesus is looking over them judging their personalities because that what jesus does. In mine Yeezus is looking over them judging their clothing because that is what Yeezus does. They both have them same idea and concept though of judgement.

Unit #4 Transition
Why must things change? Things must change because if they didn't there would not be any evolutions or downfalls and that would make things boring
What changes or transitions occur in life? Changes or Transitions that occur in life are things like maturing and finding your true personality as you get older and wiser.
How have you changed? I have changed by gaining more knowledge by experiences.
What remains consistent? Things that remain consistent are mathematical/technical aspects of life. We will always breathe oxygen, two plus two will always equal four.
How can artists use change? Artists can use change in their works to show something getting better or worse with time and tell a story.
How do artists show change? Artists show change by amount of highlights and shadows and giving something a more dark or light look.
How does light change? Light changes based on the time of day.
Consider all that changes in life.
· What have been some recent changes in your life? Gaining and losing people
· What are future changes that you will expect to happen? Going to college, finding a profession, living on my own.
· What does not change? Does anything remain the same? Things that don't change is the fact that family is always there. Family's that stay close like mine will always be there when you need them.

My photos demonstrate transition by showing amount of light during the day vs during the night. During the day it is much more detailed and you can see everything and even though it is a cloudy day, compared to the night picture, it looks much happier. The night version is much less detailed and it makes it difficult to make out figures and what they really are. Without seeing detail you don't know what is really out there. This is interesting to me and I think that is why some people are afraid of the dark. Being able to see things and know what it is you are looking at gives one a more comfortable and secure feeling and that is what I learned from doing this Unit.
Unit #3 Layers
How are people layered? People are layered because everyone had different sides to themselves.
Do people play different roles? Yes everyone plays specific roles in other people lives, if they didn't no one would mean anything to anyone
Why do artists choose to conceal things? Artists choose to conceal some things because they do not have as much significance to what they are trying to say as other things.
What do artists choose to reveal? Artists choose to reveal the things that greatly demonstrate the concept in which they are presenting.
Consider the many roles you have in your life at school, at home, at work, and at play. Write about your roles or layers.
· What roles do you play in your life? (daughter, son, student, athlete, employee, etc.) I play a big role as an employee since a lot of my life takes place at work. Also the other half is around family in which I always help them when they need anything. The other part of my life revolves around school in which you have to obey and respect the rules.
· Do you ever conceal or hide any layers? I conceal layers that I someone would judge me for if i don't know them well
· Which layers do you choose to reveal? I reveal the layers that are socially correct to people that I don't know very well
· Do you reveal different layers to different people? Yes I am more comfortable with some people than others
· Do you act one way with a group of people and not with another? Yes I act more open around the people I know better. When I am around people I don't know as well I don't talk as much.

In my project I split it in half between logical and creative. The left side is logic and the right is creative because I am active in my life with both of these subjects. On the logic side, I have a picture of my leatherman tool because it allows me to fix things at work as an employee. Another thing I have on the left side is part of a bench I made in my shop class. I have this because woodworking is a lot of measuring and being exact and following rules which is a lot of what logic is. One picture I put on the right side is a picture that I made in art class of mac miller. I chose this picture because I feel in art class is when i am most creative and using my right side of my brain the most. Another picture on the right side is a picture i took of my fishing pole at my favorite pond to fish at because I enjoy fishing and how it is a relaxing thing to do and how you don't have to think hard about anything and you can be chill which I feel is a key component in using the right side of your brain. The other pictures I used in this are just pictures to help demonstrate the other things and add effects. Such as colored pencils at the bottom to show that no matter which side of the brain I am using I will always be a creative and crafty individual because that is who I am. I also got a picture of gears off of the internet to put on the right side to help explain the logic side.

Unit #2 Perspective
How do different people perceive the world? I think different people perceive the world in different ways that very based on experience. For example people how have traveled different places know more about what is outside of their base surroundings
Does someone’s perception of the world change over time? Like I said before I think as they get more experienced their perception gets more detailed and they are more open.
Can photographers use camera angle to convey meaning? Yes i think the angle has a lot to do with meaning. For example looking up at something is a lot different from looking down on something.
How does camera angle and focus affect meaning? Focus affects meaning because you can change the subject based on what you have in focus.
How can art be used as a tool for empathy? You can use focus and angle to share your feelings with your audience.
Does marketing and advertising use empathy to sell products, ideas, or lifestyles? Yes because they will make you feel a certain way to get you to buy their product. For example: the nationwide commercial during the Superbowl.

The day has been a long one as the entire earth seems grey. I have been struggling to get through the wet swampy goo in which holds me down for all eternity. Although it is difficult, I can still see the goal. It has not yet faded from my mind, as many objects still stand in its way. The town is earie tonight and something seems off. I have that feeling, you know that one deep down in your gut that just tells you, today is where it all ends.
I like the way that this picture represents perspective because it is taken where the person in the picture is looking directly into the cameras lens at eye level. I think this is an important perspective because eye level can be portrayed towards anything it is eye level to. In this scenario maybe the person is looking at an ant walking around the ground like hey little ant me and you aren't so different after all. Eye level puts what is being photographed at the same level of what the main focus is on. This evens things out and nothing is overpowered or undermined. This is one way of how perspective could be viewed.
